These air fried beef meatballs are so good and quick to make. They can be used for spaghetti with the sauce or meatball sandwiches. You can also serve them with toothpicks as appetizers or hors devours (horderves).
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs (Italian bread crumbs preferred)
- ¼ cup flat parsley leaves then chopped fine
- ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ½ of a medium size onion, finely chopped
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic or 1 tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 shakes Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
If you have a mini food processsor, it will be easier to put the onions, garlic and coarsely chopped parsley in it and chop them all together.
Put the ground beef in a mixing bowl, add the breadcrumbs, egg and the rest of the ingredients. Mix them well with your hand. Shape into balls about an inch and a half diameter, about one tablespoon scoop. Place them in your air fryer basket or on the air fryer tray but do not let them touch each other. You may have to use two trays or two batches.
Brush the top of the meatballs with vegetable oil or spray them with cooking oil. Air-fry them at 400° F for 8 to 10 minutes.
For spaghetti, heat a bottle of store-bought spaghetti sauce or marinara in a saucepan. Add the meatballs in the sauce and heat through.
If using garlic, put a splash of olive oil in a sauce pan and saute the garlic in the olive oil on med. heat until barely fragrant then add the marinara or sauce.
You can also put the meatballs with the sauce in a hoagie roll to make a meatball sandwich. Add a slice of provolone or sprinkle with some parmesan cheese. Also good with some pickled banana peppers. The image below is on a naan bread.
